Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month

From September 15 through October 15, the U.S. recognizes and celebrates the immense contributions of Hispanics. As the largest minority group in the U.S., Hispanics represent a diverse, vibrant, and influential group of consumers and contributors to all aspects of American life.

U.S. Hispanics are 60 Million strong and growing fast. Their influence spans the arts, music, entertainment, food, government, and every business sector. Whether breaking a glass ceiling or shaping policy, Hispanic talent shines across all sectors. Here are a few notable U.S. Hispanics:

  • Ellen Ochoa: the first Latina astronaut and veteran of four space flights, Ochoa also holds three patents and several NASA awards for leadership and service
  • Carlos Santana: Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and named one of Rolling Stone’s greatest guitarists of all time, Santana is a 13-time Grammy award winner
  • Julian and Joaquin Castro: These political twins have helped shape politics and policy in the U.S. through years of service as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and House Representative, respectively

Straddling American life and Latino culture, U.S. Hispanics are not surprisingly proud of their origin and maintain strong ties to language, family and tradition. This richly diverse group comes from more than 15 countries including:
