Under the Hood with Matt Nepomuceno

This week’s Under the Hood features a core member of our Engineering team here at Lotame, Matt Nepomuceno. Matt has worked for Lotame for almost four years and is referred to as the “gatekeeper” for the engineering team. What is a gatekeeper, you ask?

What is your title at Lotame? What do you do on a day-to-day basis?

I am a Senior Technical Services Specialist sitting on the Lotame Engineering team. My job consists of a little bit of everything:

  1. I am the “gatekeeper” and main point of triage for incoming support requests/issues that require Engineering attention. This can be anything from platform bugs to tasks like setting up new inbound/outbound integrations.
  2. An engineer on the Foundation Engineering Team. This includes writing code for our backend integrations as well as some API work.
  3. Monitoring the day-to-day operations of our existing inbound/outbound integrations and making sure they are running smoothly on a daily basis.

How has your role at Lotame evolved throughout the years? How long have you been here?

I began working at Lotame in April of 2014. When I started, I was part of a small team of Technical Services Specialists and mostly focused on answering support tickets from clients. Since then, I have fully transitioned over to the Technology team, and my role has evolved into more of an engineering role, giving me the opportunity to learn and help develop our backend applications.

What do you enjoy most about working at Lotame?

I enjoy the culture, the people, and seeing our product grow and evolve over time. Having an impact on that product, and knowing the features you helped create are being used and appreciated by clients is icing on the top.

I know you recently received a PeerToPeer Award at Lotame. Do you work with other departments a lot? What is the key to being loved by your coworkers?

I do my best to be as helpful as I can to anyone willing to ask questions about anything. I was once that kid who didn’t know anything about Lotame or what the heck a cookie was, so it’s easy for me to put myself in that person’s shoes.

How does Lotame differ from our competitors?

I don’t know what it’s like at other companies, but i’d be willing to bet Lotame has the smartest engineering minds in the space. I learn something new from my co-workers on a daily basis.

What do you do when you’re not working?

I train and compete in the sport of Olympic Weightlifting!

Tell us something we don’t already know about you.

I just became a first time home owner in December! If anyone’s looking to get rid of a table or couch in decent shape, let me know!
