Under the Hood with Lotame’s Fred Marthoz

September 7, 2016

This week, our “Under the Hood” interview is with Frederic Marthoz, Lotame’s Sales Director for EMEA. You can usually find Fred in our London office, but when he isn’t there he is probably meeting with prospective clients and making them fall in love with Lotame! His personality and teamwork has played a vital role in the success of Lotame in Europe.

Is there a “typical” day in your role at Lotame?

I have been the Sales Director for EMEA for 2 wonderful years, but every day is different. Often I am meeting with prospects, clients, and partners, while others I may be taking a lot of internal calls and recruiting new people. Because I am in sales, a lot of what I do is external facing, but I try to stay in sync with coworkers from our US offices to make sure we are on the same page. I also work very closely with marketing and product to ensure keep up with the platform as it evolves.

What did you do before joining Lotame?

Prior to Lotame I worked for big companies like Microsoft and Google, and then small startups like Playphone and Mocean Mobile. I have spent 15 years in the tech and digital media industries, and have loved every second of it. The industry is always evolving to become better, and it is nice to feel a part of something so powerful.

What would you say makes Lotame different than our competitors?

I think what stands out to me the most about Lotame is its flat structure. What I mean by that is that we are very transparent, with no hierarchies. Everybody is a team player, and more importantly, everyone has a say. You don’t find that at most companies, and it is a great feeling knowing you are truly valued.

We are also a company filled with very diverse backgrounds. Most everyone comes from different horizons all over the world, and having those different ideas coming together is a real strength. Diversity is a really important thing to me.

Do you have any advice for folks looking for success with a DMP?

Working with a DMP can sometimes be a tough process if you don’t put in your part. I would say that if you are willing to invest the time and effort, and go step by step, in the end you will reap the rewards. Our most successful clients are the ones who are willing to “own” the DMP and put the time in to make it work.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?

On the weekends I love to go swimming, play guitar, and throw the football with my two sons! Nothing better than spending quality time with the people that I love the most, aside from a great week of work with my Lotame friends.

Tell me something that we don’t already know about you!

When I was younger I used to play the drums in a rock band. I still like to play every once in awhile, but definitely not like I used to. I miss it a lot!
